Fairhaven Festival 2026

For Immediate Release

Fairhaven Association Announces Evolution of Fairhaven Festival Toward District-Wide Community Celebration

The Fairhaven Association is announcing an evolution of the long-running Fairhaven Festival, reflecting both the changing nature of the event and a renewed focus on supporting the heart of the Fairhaven community: its small businesses, local restaurants, artists, and welcoming public spaces.

As events grow and change over time, so too must the organizations that steward them. After thoughtful consideration, the Fairhaven Association has decided it will not host the traditional Fairhaven Festival format this year. Instead, the Association is shifting its energy toward a more distributed, community-centered approach that highlights the unique character of Fairhaven and benefits businesses throughout the district.

Over the years, the Fairhaven Festival has evolved alongside the district itself. What was once a small, centralized celebration has become increasingly complex to produce, requiring significant resources, extensive volunteer coordination, and increased operational risk. At the same time, Fairhaven has grown into a vibrant destination with a wide variety of shops, entertainment venues, and food and beverage offerings that deserve to be showcased.

This year’s shift allows the Fairhaven Association to focus on what makes Fairhaven special every day. Rather than concentrating entertainment and activity in a single location, visitors can expect to experience music, food, and celebration throughout the Village—encouraging exploration, connection, and support of local businesses.

“Times are changing, and the Fairhaven Association is evolving with them,” said Kimberly Anderson, Executive Director. “This new approach allows us to support more businesses, create a more accessible and flexible celebration, and foster a true community experience that reflects Fairhaven today.”

The Ski to Sea Race, produced by Whatcom Events, will continue to be in Fairhaven and remains an important and exciting part of the weekend. More information about Ski to Sea and their other events can be found at https://whatcomevents.org/ or by contacting Whatcom Events at info@skitosea.com.

The Fairhaven Association remains committed to creating meaningful events and partnerships that strengthen the neighborhood, support economic vitality, and bring people together. This evolution marks an exciting step forward in reimagining how Fairhaven celebrates.
